Overview
What is Acupuncture?

Acupuncture is an ancient Chinese medical practice that treats all types of injuries and illnesses. Additionally, extremely thin needles, about 0.1 mm, are inserted into specific meridian points in the skin.
Additionally, by stimulating these points, it encourages the body to promote natural healing and improve functioning.
Acupuncture greatly reduces inflation in your body by eliminating or flushing out inflammatory hormones such as Cortisol & adrenaline.
Acupuncture also stimulates your Autonomic immune system & your body will release Dopamine & endorphins within about 20 minutes of needling.
This helps correct imbalances in the flow of Qi through the meridians.
Additionally, the therapy helps move healthy blood to damaged or injured areas of the body.
Acupuncture brings leukocytes and leukotriens to the site to support tissue healing.
What is the scope of Acupuncture?
The system of Acupuncture can affect three areas of health care.
In addition, these are the promotion of health and well-being, the prevention of illnesses, and treatment of various conditions.
Acupuncture and Chinese herbs are often used to treat musculoskeletal injuries. A well-trained practitioner can treat many different illnesses and diseases. A modern day Chinese medicine practitioner’s scope of practice is primary care and basically anything besides emergency or ER medicine.
Is Acupuncture safe?
Yes, very safe. Much safer than modern western medicine! Only sterile, packaged disposable needles are used and then disposed as medical waste after one use.Â
Does Acupuncture hurt?
Acupuncture is not that painful. Some patients feel the insertion.
Additionally, hair-thin needles are quickly inserted.
Occasionally a fleeting prick or pinching sensation is felt.
Most patients are surprised that they feel nothing at all.
They are amazed by how relaxed they feel during and after the treatment.
This can only occur if the treatment is comfortable and gentle.

How many treatments will I need?
This is unique to the individual case. You need to give acupuncture a try at least twice. Results can happen between 1-3 treatments depending on the case. Some people notice an immediate improvement in their health while for others acupuncture tends to have a cumulative effect over several visits. For most chronic conditions, cosmetic acupuncture or fertility cases weekly treatments offer the best outcome.
